The Number 23 (2007)

February 29, 2008

The Number 23 - 2007The name’s Carrey, Jim Carrey. During his life, he has held various eccentric jobs, such as being Count Olaf or Ace Ventura, but now he has finally found the job of his dreams, one that truly uses his potential to it’s maximum. Wait for it… Animal control agent!

On the day of his birthday, he is bitten by a dog going by the name of Ned [14(N) + 5(E) + 5(D)]= 23. He then lets the dog go and then because of what happened, that has now made him late for his pitiful birthday party! He picks up his wife at the bookstore and that’s where he sees it. The book! Thrilling, don’t you agree? The wife ends up buying the book and, after reading a few chapters, Jimmy-Boy finds out that the number 23’s (that’s the name of the said book) main character is a detective that has had the same life as him, and is obsessed by the number 23. Jim, once again proving he has no brain, decides to do the same. Oh snap!

And it goes for about two hours. I haven’t finished it, and I’m glad I didn’t. Jim Carrey is funny sometimes, but he should stop playing in thrillers and get a job be himself. Virginia Madsen (the wife) acts fairly well but the emo kid playing their son should return to school. The directing is slow and uninspired, while the plot is incredibly dull and boring.
