Hitman (2007)
Brief Synopsis:
A gun-for-hire known only as Agent 47 is ensnared in a political conspiracy which finds him pursued by both Interpol and the Russian military as he treks across Eastern Europe hired by a group known as “The Agency” to kill targets for cash.
Detailed Synopsis & Review:
The opening scene bursts with classic instrumental music with a feamle voice singing in harmony. As the opening credits slide in and out view, you see small excerpts of what appears to be the birth of the assassins. Acknowledged by numbers and not names, they are the necessary evil, required to wash the bad from this Earth.
This was the movie adaptation of the video game, Hitman, starring Timothy Olyphant as our main character, 47. The first thing to strike me during the film was 47’s ability to turn down even the most beautiful of females. He acts almost machine-like and is only focused on his occupation and the task at hand. The storyline may also confuse some as the scenes skip rather quickly in certain places. This can make watching the movie a chore but careful concentration can eliminate this. During the introduction to 47’s character and the story in hand, we can see that our hero is plagued by his upbringing as he endures flashbacks when carrying out daily tasks.
Hitman features some of the greatest action scenes I have seen to date. You’ll find that you are constantly peering down the sights of a rifle as if you are the one taking the shot. Incredibly, the creators of the movie have included realistic blood and gore which is a reminder of real life assassinations.
More action sequences follow, as 47 flees from Interpol and those who exist to put him away. Many of the action sequences feature poses and certain movements which are present in the video games giving it that extra spice that separates Hitman from a regular action movie.
Even after every kill and action scene, our hero remains calm and coolheaded as he dahes from location to location.
There are a few bad points to this movie however. First of all, maybe Timothy Olyphant wasn’t the best choice of actors to play this movie. You realize that he just doesn’t go well with the character of 47 as the movie progresses. The storyline is quite dreadful a majority of the time but if you get pleasure from a large marathon of guns, blood, explosions, stay-cool heroes, fighting and partial nudity…. then maybe this is your type of movie. I know I liked it.
